Empowering local journeys through NEW transport funding!

October 08, 2025 in Frameworks
The UK government announces a £104 million funding boost to enhance local transport services, including cleaner buses, safer cycling routes and improved accessibility across towns and rural areas[1]. This forms part of a broader £2.3 billion, three-year Local Transport Grant allocation for FY2026/27 to FY2028/29 [2].
The Department for Transport states that it will empower local transport authorities outside city regions to decide how to improve public transport and drive forward schemes that boost growth and reflect local priorities[3].
How do we support this?
To improve the overall experience of public transport, a part of this is making sure bus stops are kept to a high standard.
We support this through our Bus Shelters and Associated Services framework, involving the provision of:
- Bus Shelters, Canopies and walkways
- Real-time passenger information (RTPI) systems
- Associated services to enhance accessibility and user experience
