Keeping communities healthier and active!

The Public Health England have been working under a strategy from 2020-2025 focusing on prioritising the protection and improvement of the public’s health and reduce health inequalities¹ throughout communities. This strategy concludes by the end of this year, with the PHE reviewing and updating their factors to keep the public healthy. Over the last year we have seen major changes in communities, which have been a talking point within parliament; supporting the importance of unstructured free play, adventure playgrounds, active play for children.

On January 8th, a pivotal moment for children's play was discussed and supported, particularly around the topic of playgrounds, highlighted by Tom Hayes MP². This emphasised the importance of inclusive, accessible, and equitable play spaces for all children. As more local authorities recognise the importance of high-quality playgrounds for children's physical health, well-being, and social development, the government has prioritised play spaces in local planning decisions.

This aligns with Public Health England’s strategy, which prioritises improving the health of children and their families to provide a strong foundation for lifelong health. Consequently, it is essential for public sector organisations to ensure safe, inclusive, and well-maintained playgrounds are available in local communities, offering children opportunities to grow and thrive in a healthy environment

Our Playground, Fitness, and Sports Equipment and Leisure Facilities framework can help local authorities improve their community playgrounds and ensure equal opportunities for children to play and succeed in a social environment. We have 5 LOTs within this framework;

LOT 1: Playground Equipment (Indoor and Outdoor).

LOT 2: Gym Equipment and Surfaces.

LOT 3: Leisure and Play Equipment and Surfaces.

LOT 4: Urban Play Equipment and Surfaces.

LOT 5: Waterplay (Indoor and Outdoor).
